Is there a link between drinking wine and snoring?

Do you snore? Do you drink wine? If you answered yes to both of those, you might be causing yourself to snore! The presence of alcohol causes your melatonin levels to drop. This means you may have a lot of disruptions at night. This will definitely limit your REM sleep. If you don’t know, REM sleep is the final and most deepest stage of sleeping. This is where the brain runs some processes to clean itself up. Its by far the most important at night while you sleep.

Alcohol also causes things like nightmares. In some extreme cases even walking while you sleep. Depending on where you live this might not be such a good thing. Imagine if you trip over some furniture and critically injure yourself. While there is a connection between sleep apnea and drinking alcohol, its definitely an indirect one. So all in all we would safe its pretty safe to continue doing so. If you live by yourself however it might be best to be aware of any strange pains when you wake up. You might be sleep walking and not even know it.

Of course alcohol is not just limited to wine. There are other things like beer and hard liquor that might spark all of the same symptoms.
